At The Television & Movie Store
during April 2009, I was lucky enough to meet some Red Dwarf stars.
This signing event featured Angela Bruce, who played the Female
Lister in a famous episode of the sci-fi comedy classic. Angela is
also best known for playing Brigadier Winifred Bambera in the
classic Doctor Who story,
Battlefield, which also starred
Sylvester McCoy as
The Doctor and Sophie
Aldred as Ace.
As usual, I arrived at the store in
good time for the signing. To my amazement, the queue was already
quite long. I chatted to several people waiting with me about the
show and science fiction in general. It was not till an hour and
three quarters later that I finally got to meet Angela.
I had a brief chat with Angela about
her time in the show, but our conversation was interrupted comically
by Robert Llewellyn and
Craig Charles, who were also at the
event. The trio were all clearly enjoying each others company, as
well as mine, as they were pretending to argue over the pens used
for the signings.
Angela signed for a print of herself as
Female Lister, plus a DVD cover and a mousemat. I enjoyed my chat to
the star, and wish it could have been longer.
