My favourite sport has to be football. The team I support is Norwich City Football Club.

The team play at Carrow Road in the city.

Norwich are currently in the Football League Championship of English football which is sponsored by Coca Cola.

Norwich have recently had a mixed season in 2001 but they have beaten their arch-rivals Ipswich Town on enemy terriority.  Due to the recent win in the East Anglian derby Norwich hold the honours against the infamous Ipswich squad. Norwich are hoping to join Ipswich in the Premiership at the end of the next season which started on August 12th 2000. The 1999/2000 season has drawn to a close and Norwich have finished mid-table and hope to push for promotion to the Premiership next season.

The football season in 2000/2001 started and NCFC went through a period of mixed fortunes and since the departure of Manager Brian Hamilton, Nigel Worthington has taken over as Manager after a period as Caretaker Manager and results have improved so far this season. NCFC have made some new signings recently to help boost the squad and they include Alex Notman (previously at Manchester United) and Zema Abbey (from Cambridge United), Adam Drury (from Peterborough United), Gary Holt (from Kilmarnock).

But the 2001/2002 season which started on August 11th 2001, the team bought some new players. The signings are Clint Easton (from Watford), Mark Rivers (from Crewe Alexandra), Marc Libbra (from Toulouse), Paul Crichton (from Burnley) plus Neil Emblen (from Wolverhampton Wanderers) and David Nielsen (from Wimbledon) to strengthen the Squad for this season.  They are at the moment doing well and starting their push for promotion.  Norwich Finished in the Play Offs but were unsuccessful in gaining promotion through the play offs and will again push for promotion to the Premiership next season.

Since writing the above, Norwich have now won promotion to the FA Barclaycard Premiership and have signed a few players including Paul Gallagher (from Dundee United) who is a current Scotland International Goalkeeper and David Bentley on a Season Long Loan from Arsenal. Also Norwich have signed Thomas Helveg (From Inter Milan) and Simon Charlton (from Bolton Wanderers) and Yossif Safri (from Coventry City).   The Season starts on August 14th 2004.  Norwich have recently brought Dean Ashton (from Crewe Alexandra) for a record fee of £3 Million in January 2005.

Since writing the above, Norwich City are now in the Football League Championship after they were relegated from the Premiership but hopefully will return to the Premiership soon.  Norwich have added Dean Marney (on Loan from Tottenahm Hotspur), Jurgen Colin (from Ajax), Andy Hughes (from Reading), Jeff Jarrett (from Wigan Athletic) to help Norwich Return to the Premiership.

Dean Ashton left NCFC in January 2006 for West Ham and Jeff Jarrett is also leaving for Preston North End. Several players listed above have now left for other clubs and Norwich are hoping to get some more squad members to strengthen it for forthcoming seasons. This should, hopefully, return the Canaries to the Premiership sometime soon.
