In April 2008, I returned to The Television & Movie
Store in Norwich to meet another classic Doctor Who star. This time I
met Sylvester McCoy, otherwise known as The Seventh
Doctor during the late 1980s.
There was a big queue to see Sylvester McCoy at The
Store, this was partly due to the star's popularity, mixed with the
delay in his late arrival. Sylvester appeared at The Television
& Movie Store at around 11.00am, half an hour later than the planned
10.30am. By the time the star arrived I was in the middle of the
queue, and I had started to enjoy the entertainment going on around me.
On Millennium Plain, there were 3 Daleks, a Cyberman, who along with a
special guest appearance by K9, mixed with surprised crowds outside The
Forum and the nearby shop. I managed to take some great pictures
of the alien visitors whist I was waiting too. I had a good time
chatting to one of my friends in the queue, so the time flew by.
At 12.30pm I eventually met Sylvester McCoy in The
Television & Movie Store. Sadly, due to the size of the queue I
could not chat to the start as much as I had wished to. Sylvester,
during our brief chat, was happy for me to take photos of him. The
Seventh Doctor also signed my newly purchased print of himself, plus my
Doctor Who: The Legend book. I had a very enjoyable time this day,
and hope to meet this star again sometime soon.
Amongst the companion's Sylvester's Doctor travelled
with was Ace, played by Sophie Aldred,
who I have been lucky to meet a couple of times previously.
