In February 2008, I returned to The Television & Movie
Store in Norwich to meet another classic Doctor Who star. This time I
met Sophie Aldred, otherwise known as Ace, a companion to
The Seventh
Doctor during the late 1980s.
There was a queue to see Sophie, who arrived at the
store at about 10.30am. There was a ticket system in operation to see
Sophie and I am happy to say I was one of the early ones to see Sophie, so it was not a long wait till I got to chat to the
star. I chatted to Sophie about her time on Doctor Who and she also
remembered me at the Star
Wars Event at the UEA, in Norwich from 2 years ago.
My Doctor Who: The Legend book was signed, as was the
DVD cover of Survival, the last Doctor Who story in 1989, before the
return of Doctor Who in 2005. As was a Doctor Who Print of Sophie Aldred
as she knew I have been a fan of the show for many years.
Ace was voted as the Fourth most popular assistant to
The Doctor, in April 2008, by the readers of SFX Magazine. It was no
surprise, that in the same poll, Elisabeth Sladen much-loved character
of Sarah Jane Smith was voted as the
best assistant of all time.
