In January 2009, I returned to The Television & Movie
Store in Norwich to meet another classic Doctor Who star. This time I
met Katy Manning who portrayed Jo Grant, the assistant to the Third
Doctor Jon Pertwee.
There was a ticket system to see Katy, and after I
had purchased a couple of items, I then joined the queue. After a 30
minute wait to see the star, I then got my chance to get my items signed
and chat to the actress.
My Doctor Who: The Legend book was signed, as was a
picture of Katy and some DVD covers. The DVD covers Katy signed were The
Three Doctors and Carnival Of Monsters.
Myself and Katy chatted about Doctor Who, Norfolk and
how she liked the county. I thought Katy was very bubbly, lively and fun
to talk to. At the same event was
Richard Franklin, who portrayed Captain Mike Yates in the same era
as Katy.
